Three features that makes this program unique are:
a) The focus on international business law
b) The entire program is completely in English
c) The intense legal research and writing curriculum
The main goal of the program is to provide competitive and highly qualified legal professionals, equipped
with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical legal skills based on the requirements of
international and local labor markets. Most of the lecturers (roughly ¾) have advance degrees from Universities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or Western Europe. They have adopted
teaching methods that are similar to those used in these jurisdictions.
The Legal Research and Writing (LRW) curriculum is one of the fundamental elements of this program.
Students must complete three LRW courses over three semesters: Legal drafting, academic writing and
moot court. All students must compete in a rigorous moot court competition, which includes legal research
of a novel issue of law, writing briefs in support of both the claimant and respondent’s position and oral
advocacy. Some students compete in one of the several international moot competitions while others
compete in an internal competition.
IBL students are very active in international competitions. Our students are able to gain tremendous
experience in these challenging tournaments – it is a great way to learn intriguing aspects of the law, meet
other students from throughout Europe or the world and each student is challenged to perform better than
they thought possible.
Some of the competitions in which we compete:

  • European Law School Association’s Moot Court Competition on WTO Law (EMC2)
  • Central and East European Moot Competition (CEEMC)International chamber of commerce international mediation competition.
