DAY 1:           ARRIVAL

Arrive at Accra Airport in the morning

DAY 2: ACCRA CITY TOUR
Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum

Breakfast

Go on a full day city tour of Accra visiting the Makola Market, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, burial place of the first President of Ghana. This Mausoleum has been visited by many world dignitaries, the Artists Alliance Gallery with over three floors of art, sculpture, carvings and artifacts is a gem of a gallery full to the brim with artistic expression.

Lunch at a local restaurant (on own account)

Continue to Old Accra which was divided into Dutch and British Accra as a result of the two European nations operating from different locations within the same township of a little under 1 sq. kilometer. You will drive past Fort Crêvecoeur (Ussher Fort) built by the Dutch in 1652, James Fort built by the British in 1662, Old Accra Square and the Post Office, the old light House built by the British to guide commercial ships into the Accra Harbour.

Drive past the Independence Arch and the Black Star Square-Accra’s ceremonial grounds to visit the National Centre for Arts and Crafts. View from a distance, the Christiansborg Castle, the former office of the President of Ghana.

DAY 3: KAKUM NATIONAL PARK & CAPE COAST CASTLE TOUR

Breakfast

Depart Accra after breakfast to Ghana’s Central Region renown for Ghana’s top tourist attractions. Visit the Kakum National Park. Go on a morning walk of the ‘Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. Weiterfahrt zum Bosumtwi-See.

Go to experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest.

Lunch at Hans Cottage (on own account) View the resident crocodile as you enjoy your meals.

Proceed after lunch to visit the Cape Coast Castle and the West African Historical Museum for a conduct tour. The slave Trade has left its mark on Ghana, where several Forts and Castles dating from the Colonial Era have been preserved as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Thousands of visitors gain insights into this sad chapter of history with visits to Ghana’s best known slave forts.

DAY 4: ELMINA – KUMASI

Breakfast and hotel check out

Depart Elmina after breakfast to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with a stop at the Elmina Castle for a tour of St. George’s Castle the largest in the tropical world built by the Portuguese in 1482 and later used as an Auction Market for Slaves. See the Slave Dungeons and the Condemned Cell where slaves who attempted to escape were incarcerated.

Arrive in Kumasi and check in to your hotel

DAY 5: KUMASI CITY TOUR & ASHANTI CRAFT VILLAGES

Otumfuo Osei-Tutu- Asantehene                                            Manhyia Palace Museum

Breakfast

Depart after breakfast for a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace and Palace Museum, National Cultural Centre, Prempeh II Museum. For the adventure lovers venture into the Kumasi Central Market – the largest open-air market in West Africa.  Interact with the Market Mummies and learn some bargaining process involved.

Proceed after lunch to visit a few Ashanti crafts villages – Bonwire famous for Kente cloth production. Observe weavers exhibit their skills in producing the clothes adorned some of which are a preserve for the Ashanti Kings Ntonso- noted for its indigenous artisans whose expertise lies in Adinkra textiles printing using traditional symbols that express the spiritual, moral, political and socio-cultural philosophies of the Akan people. The Ntonso Adinkra village offers you opportunity to create your own designs. Ahwiaa – the woodcarver’s village specializing in woodcarving such as the Ashanti stools, fertility dolls and walking sticks.

 DAY 6:  KUMASI -ACCRA

Breakfast and hotel check out

Depart Kumasi to Accra. Enroute stop to visit the home of Queen Mother Yaa Asantewaa at Ejisu Besease. Yaa Asantewaa, the female Asante War General who led the Asantes to fight the British in 1900. Visit Ashanti Traditional Building and Shrine at Ejisu Besease.

Drive past several scenic villages and charming towns through the evergreen forest.
